Who we are....

Nakere Rural Women Activists (NARWOA) is a women-led, community-based non-profit organization founded Registration number; MIA/NB/2019/08/2751) in November 2002 in Kotido District, Karamoja, Uganda. Emerging from grassroots mobilization, NARWOA was established in response to the region’s humanitarian crises, including cross-border and inter-ethnic conflicts, the rise of warlords, domestic violence, and systemic discrimination against women. The organization’s name originates from the local term “Ekere,” referring to the tree under which women initially convened to discuss pressing community issues.
